In May 2008 Brave released their first studio album in four years, "Monuments."īRAVE has released 4 productions of progressive metal, mixing raw and heavy passages with calmer melodic moments. In 2007, Matt Kozar (guitar, formerly of FORTY DAYS LONGING, BETRAY MY TRUST, and TIME OF THE WOLF) joined the band as the second guitarist bringing the group to six. ![]() In 2003, Chris Welborn left the group and was replaced by MODULUS bass player Ben Kelly (formerly of FORTY DAYS LONGING).Įarly in 2004, the first creation from this revamped line-up was released, an EP named "Passages".īRAVE continues being active on the live circuit as well, and they now find themselves booked as opening act for several renowned acts playing in the Washington DC area on a regular basis. The same year they entered Jaxx's Battle of the Bands and achieved 2nd place among 250 contestants in a 6 month long competition. Just after this release, Suvo Sur (violin) joined the band, replacing guitarist Tom Philips. ![]() In February 2002, the 5-piece entered the studio and recorded their full length album "Searching for the Sun" which was released in July. So, in March of 2000, the band changed their name to BRAVE.Ī year later, BRAVE released their first EP "Waist Deep in Dark Waters" in March 2001. In the meantime the members felt a name change was called for since the musical style evolved from the avant-garde style that they had been exploring, towards a more distinct progressive metal sound. "Before an Audience of Stars", the band's sophomore album, was released in 1999 - and later reissued in 2001.
